“BatVader at the Stockholm City Hall” (Stadshuset) BatVader is a character I've created who is a mixture of Batman and Darth Vader. Stockholm City Hall was the first place I’ve visited for sightseeing in Stockholm in April 2025. It was very pleasant to watch the view from that point. This work is a painting of one of the photos I’ve taken there. There is an arch shape and BatVader is looking towards the light from a darker spot. He is leaning against a strong column - getting strength from it, arms crossed, feeling slighly relaxed, just watching, observing and thinking. Kind of a representation of looking at the bright future. You can see Södermalm across the shore, Riddarholmen Church/ Riddarholmen area, Stockholm Cathedral and statue of Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson. I’ve finished this painting before my 2nd visit to Stockholm in July 2025 and it was so pleasant to see Stockholm, the City Hall and re-see this view again from this spot. Hope to see you again, Stadshuset.

Shipping from Istanbul in a cardboard box. The project will be wrapped in bubble wrap or soft wrapping sheet.

As every kid, I liked to draw and make some things. I took elective art classes at middle-high school besides the mandatory ones. 4 years of elective ceramics class and one semester of textiles. Other than the art classes, I can say that my notebooks were full of different drawings and patterns, mostly with cars. :) I had a long period without doing art but I always had the curiosity how those exceptional art works are created. Talent? Determination? Practice? I was impressed every time I saw an art piece. Seeing all those art pieces from centuries ago felt quite impressive. At the back of my mind, I always had the question whether I could do something similar. A few of my friends told me just to give it a try and I did. In my case, creating art is the only possibility to leave something behind which can extend my life and even the lifetime of humanity. 300 years from now, someone, somewhere on this planet might look at something I've enjoyed making in my life and say, "This is an Erdem Bilgin piece. I like it." Obviously I will not feel this but my paintings will.
