This large-scale acrylic painting reflects on the quiet origins of human connection—before complexity, before distance, before the need to translate ourselves. The apple appears as a recurring symbol of exchange: something offered, something received, something understood without language. It marks a moment of immediacy—where connection exists without mediation. The figures occupy a shared space, yet remain subtly apart. Their presence suggests a shift—how relationships have evolved into something more layered, more fragile, and at times more distant. Commanding in scale and painterly expression, the work functions as a statement piece—holding both visual and emotional weight. It invites a return to something essential, while acknowledging the tension of the present.

Karin Björnsdotter

Sweden

Karin Björnsdotter is a contemporary artist based on Sweden’s west coast. Her work moves between abstraction and figuration, with color and movement at its core. Through an intuitive, process-driven approach to painting, she explores presence, rhythm, and sensory experience. Having grown up in South America and spent several years in Miami, she brings an international visual perspective to her work, expressed through vibrant color and a strong sense of movement. Born in the early 1960s, she is the mother of two adult children and lives on the west coast with her partner. Alongside her artistic practice, she works as a yoga teacher. Nature—often in the company of her Lagotto, Enzo—remains an important source of presence and reflection in both her life and her art.
