ART CONCEPT / TERROIR & WINE It’s all about origin and sense of place in the world of handcrafted, quality wine. As a sommelier and wine journalist, the concept of terroir is a constant source of inspiration, also for my art. Each piece is linked to a specific region, soil type, grape or wine style and comes with a wine story of its own. FOREST FLOOR IN CÔTE D'OR In this case Burgundy, a French region producing some of the world's finest wines, is the inspirational source. Imagine an autumn day in the forest, walking on wet moss and fallen leaves, hunting for chantarelles to go with a lovely red Burgundy wine. Forest floor is an expression often used to describe deep, special notes in a quality wine of some age. Côte d'Or, a name referring to the golden slopes with excellent sites where vines thrive, has inspired to the golden details. Here mixed with deep soils, earth and minerality, resulting in glimmering gold in the glass. Acrylic and gold leafs on canvas.
