This unique artwork is produced as a print on 4 mm aluminium Dibond. Only one example has been made, making it a unique edition of 1/1. A concealed hanging rail on the reverse positions the artwork 20 mm from the wall, creating a subtle floating effect and natural shadows. This painting is inspired by The Old Sea Bear, also known as Fiskargubben in Sweden, a painting from the late 1930s by the German marine painter Harry Haerendel (1893–1982). Haerendel painted the motif several times and sold the rights to the image in 1940 to the German publisher Kunstanstalten May, which then produced the painting in large editions. The image became very popular in Scandinavia, especially in Sweden, where it is often associated with Gothenburg and the West Coast.
