Film photography is the medium that feels most natural to me. I never studied photography formally — I'm self-taught, and my style has become cinematic, classic and meditative. My current work is black and white portraiture and still life, shot on film with studio lighting. Film lets me explore life and death in a way digital can't. It also makes me think more like a painter than a photographer. The other thread in my work is consciousness. Years of daily meditation have shaped how I see and experience the world. That same stillness and sense of unity is what I bring to a photograph — not just an image, but darshan: the sight of the transcendent made immanent, passed on to whoever is looking. I want each photograph to carry that same stillness, so the viewer isn't just looking at a picture, they're momentarily inside it.
