This 1 x 1 meter mixed-media canvas reflects on the systematic erasure of women’s presence in Iranian history from ancient wall paintings to everyday life after the rise of Islamic rule. The black and white surface is built from layers of concrete and resin, scarred with scratches, cracks, and textures that speak of something once visible but now hidden. The white forms recall what was once celebrated women’s images on walls, in public memory while the heavy black and scratched layers show what remains after censorship and control. This work is not only about history. It’s about now. About what is lost, and what still resists being alive over the suppression.

SADAF AHMADI was born in 1985. She is a multidisciplinary artist educated in Sooreh university in Tehran and Karnameh institute under the mentorship of Abbas Kiarostami. After 16 years of practice in different fields of cinema, she moved to Sweden and her first exhibition released in 2023 in France and in a short while she was invited to 5 more shows in the same year.
