Tara Ann McMahon

Sweden

Born in Canton, Ohio, the artist has always been captivated by the power of nonverbal expression, finding it far more compelling than words. After spending formative years in Ohio, Arizona, and Idaho, she ultimately settled in the Pacific Northwest, where she pursued her artistic aspirations at Cornish College of the Arts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. The artist resided in Seattle for 17 years before a brief interlude in Florida led them to their current home and studio in Stockholm, Sweden. While the artist occasionally engages with concrete and objective subject matter, these elements are often layered within abstraction, serving to enhance the presence of the primary components of their art. Their creations stem from a blend of emotional and visual perceptions, intentionally crafted to remain open to interpretation, allowing viewers to engage with the work in a deeply personal and subjective manner. Nature and its organic forms remain a perennial source of inspiration, with color playing a pivotal role in shaping her artistic expression. Reflecting the ebb and flow of life itself, the artist's work is characterized by constant evolution and growth, an ever-changing dialogue between the artist and the world around them.
