This November, the winter art scene in Stockholm receives a captivating new addition as Artist Arena presents “Vinterutställning” at the prestigious Nordiska Kompaniet (NK). Running from November 23 to February 18, this exhibition gathers the profound, expressive works of Amanda Egnell, David Liljeqvist, and Ingeborg Andersson. With roots in realism, abstraction, and spiritual exploration, these artists invite visitors to delve into a transformative experience that explores the interplay of emotion, memory, and nature across their distinct artistic styles.

A Platform by Artists, for Artists

Artist Arena is more than just an exhibition space—it’s a community dedicated to making art more accessible and more personal. Founded by artists with a mission to bridge the gap between creators and their audiences, Artist Arena celebrates the act of creation as an inclusive, universal experience. “Vinterutställning” exemplifies this ethos by gathering three visionary artists, each bringing unique interpretations and techniques, to create a journey that invites viewers to see the world through new perspectives.

Amanda Egnell – Where Nature Meets Abstraction

Amanda Egnell, a Göteborg-based artist, is renowned for her ability to fuse realism and abstraction, a skill she has showcased in collections spanning ten countries. Egnell’s artworks, constructed from layers of acrylic and oil applied with brushes, palette knives, and even her fingers, draw viewers into expansive landscapes and vistas viewed from a bird’s-eye perspective. Her gem-toned color palettes, inspired by nature and travel, create a sensation of being simultaneously grounded and lifted into a higher realm, transforming her canvases into portals to places both familiar and exotic. In “Vinterutställning,” her paintings capture the wonder of nature from above, aiming to shift the viewer’s perception of natural spaces.

David Liljeqvist – Emotional Landscapes in Abstract Form

Hailing from Kullahalvön in northwest Skåne, David Liljeqvist presents works that balance spontaneity with carefully structured planning. Known for his exploration of figures and women, Liljeqvist’s works defy singular interpretation, inviting viewers into multi-layered narratives rich with emotional intensity. His mixed-media approach—incorporating unconventional textures and layering—creates dynamic surfaces that pulse with life. In “Vinterutställning,” Liljeqvist offers deeply personal pieces that explore humanity’s inner and outer worlds, challenging the viewer to confront both the visible and invisible aspects of the self and the human experience.

Ingeborg Andersson – Spirituality in Texture and Form

Ingeborg Andersson, who lives near the coast outside Stockholm, brings a meditative, spiritual dimension to the exhibition. Having studied Vedic Art, Andersson’s works reflect her connection to nature and her exploration of what lies beyond the seen world. Working primarily with acrylics and various textural elements, she builds layered compositions that suggest worlds within worlds. Her pieces on display at “Vinterutställning” pay homage to nature’s intricate structures and highlight her fascination with texture as a means of breathing life into the canvas, encouraging viewers to see beyond the material and into the essence of her subjects.
