Behind This painting there is a very personal story. It took me over a year to finish This piece. Many layers of oil color. I started this when I was in a stressed, scary and dark spot in life, (one family member was diagnosed with a rare disease). I wanted to paint something that makes you smile, the day better and life a little bit brighter. The cat has fallen asleep in the orangery. That’s when the opportunistic birds start to chat, dance and dominate the room. The motif disappears as soon as the cat opens its eyes. I wanted to capture the warm light and create something that makes you smile.

Frame is optional. The painting has a golden frame today.

Sweden

Colorist Naivist Expressionist Swedish artist located outside of Stockholm. Anneli is autodidact and studied Art History and History at Stockholm University. Anneli’s art and characteristic style is playful and figurative with a bold and bright palette, almost as if colors play a more significant part than the motif itself. “in my artistry I am a storyteller working with time and timelessness. I want the viewer to feel connected with your inner self, and I try to reach the viewer through humorous stories, for example my series “Cat nap”, where the birds dominate the space in a room whilst the cat is napping. And as soon as the cat awakens the scene disappears. I want to capture places, motives, scenes, environments, settings and figures that we can perceive as timeless. I am an observant bystander who want to bridge, and even wipe out the line between past and present, and place my paintings in a timeless space. Paint gardens, cats, birds and serene landscapes. Bright colors. I have painted several series: Cats and birds Cats in cities Parks My garden Women in art Flowerpots Memories I want the viewer to feel happiness, maybe smile a little, when looking at my paintings.
