Mixed media, with acrylic, pen, and spray on old screen printing frame. The frame was sourced from a defunct printing house and retains marks and traces of its industrial past, allowing the history of the frame to naturally integrate into the new artwork. Made from aluminum, the frame is lightweight and has a similar weight to a traditional painting. It can also be easily hung directly on the wall, like any other frame, with the loops and chains easily removed if desired. The screen printing mesh is semi-transparent, allowing light to pass through and creating a piece that changes dynamically with both the background and the time of day. The mesh also allows the paint to bleed through, producing a slightly distorted, reversed shadow of the motif on the reverse side. This makes the piece captivating from both the front and back—a quality that has occasionally been utilized by hanging the artwork in the center of a room.
