Hi, I am Åsa from Stockholm.
I have been painting off and on my entire life.
Art and other forms of creativity plays an important role in my life - to have fun, to express oneself, to explore inwards.

Inspiration
For me, art is a language of its own that touches in a different way than words do, like music. I believe that we all need to be swept up in art, music, theater and have something new awakened within us.
The inspiration comes from fairy tales, stories, nature and various events in everyday life. Because everyday events can be anything - comical events, silly things and more serious dark things.
The exhibition I have at Artist arena in February-March is called Light and Darkness. In one of the gallery rooms I show bright, colorful and happy motifs; perhaps the form we want to be when we meet the world. The other room has more melancholic and introverted motifs. Perhaps what we carry with us on the inside but don't show so often.
I have been drawing, off and on, since my teenage years. For many years I painted abstract forms, now I prefer figurative works.
I have studied art for 2.5 years at a Swedish ”folkhögskola”, a level before University.
After my studies, I had several exhibitions, both separate and together with other artists.

I paint in acrylic.
My art is often colorful and free. I often get inner images that I then try to paint. It is often about animals in different forms. Some parts are more descriptive and a lot is fantasy and playing with form and painting.
