About

Christian Colmenius is an abstract artist from Stockholm. From an early age, he was fascinated by colors and drawing figures, but it wasn’t obvious that he would become an artist. His interest in painting developed much later in adulthood. His paintings are contemporary and vibrant, with structure and contrasts combined with rich color tones and layers, which are typical of his artistic expression.

Christian’s artworks have so far been exhibited in Sweden and Italy.

Inspiration

Christian get his inspiration from other artists, nature, traveling and anything else that captures his interest. He uses acrylic paints, water, various tools, and materials in the creative process. He fully trusts his intuition and continually allows himself to grow as an artist. He lets the creative process take its course, where nothing is limiting but rather a natural part of the free and creative flow.

Self taught

Christian will be participating with an original artwork (80x100 cm) at Artist Arena Showroom together with several other artists.
The group exhibition will be held from December 6th to 16th.

Acrylic/mixed media

Christian’s artistic expression can best be described as a free and experimental art form. He often begins a painting without any specific plan, relying on his intuition and letting his creative mind take the lead. He builds up the painting in multiple layers of color, often with a rougher texture as the foundation. He uses acrylic paint, water, and often incorporates the force of gravity in the creative process. It is more common than not for the painting to change shape during the process, something both exciting and challenging for him as an artist. Only when he feels that the painting has found its identity, or rather its soul, can he let go of it, add his signature, and give the artwork its name.
