About
My name is Björg Helene Eggen – I am a visual artist and poet based in Sweden. My work combines ink drawings from my personal diary with short, emotionally charged texts. Together, they form fragmented narratives exploring identity, vulnerability, and the politics of being human.
With roots in both visual storytelling and language, I use my art to surface what often remains hidden – the pain behind beauty, the silence beneath surface, and the small truths we carry inside. Each piece is an intimate confrontation, a soft resistance.

Inspiration
My greatest source of inspiration is the emotional undercurrent of everyday life — the invisible layers beneath what we show the world. I draw directly from my personal diary, transforming private moments into universal reflections. Themes of identity, silence, social pressure, and hidden pain run through my work.
I’m inspired by contrasts: beauty and discomfort, control and chaos, softness and sharpness. Visually, I’m drawn to minimalistic ink lines, imperfections, and raw expression. Poetically, I explore how few words can say what’s too heavy to carry in silence.
I have no formal education in fine arts, but I bring over 20 years of experience as a professional designer — working with visual communication, storytelling, and emotional expression. My artistic practice is self-taught and deeply rooted in personal exploration, combining my design expertise with poetry and ink-based illustration.
I currently have two upcoming exhibitions in the works. The first is at Stockholm Brewing, where I’ll be showing selected works.
The second is a vernissage I’m curating myself – a more intimate presentation of my latest pieces, where visual art, atmosphere, and conversation will meet on my terms.
I work primarily with black ink on paper, using fine lines and minimalistic strokes to capture raw emotion and inner states. My drawings originate from my personal diary, created intuitively without sketching or correction — allowing honesty to lead the hand.
Each piece is paired with a short text or poem, handwritten or digitally composed, forming a dialogue between image and word. The process is direct, emotional, and intentionally imperfect — embracing flaws as part of the expression.
My process begins with a moment — a thought, a feeling, or a fragment from my diary. Sometimes I start by sketching lightly to find a composition, and other times I draw directly with black ink, letting the lines flow intuitively. This mix allows both reflection and spontaneity to shape the work.
Each piece is paired with a short poem or line of text. Sometimes the words come first, sometimes after — but always in dialogue with the image. The process is quiet, raw, and deeply personal, often completed in one sitting where emotion leads the way.
I let imperfections remain — they are part of the truth I want to tell.
