About
Cecilia Andersen, born 1979, living in Bromölla, Sweden.
I'm a self taught artist who likes to find new ways to express myself. My photos work as base for most of my art and by trying more untraditional methods, I've found a way to present them in a more personal and expressive way. My latest project is sewing paper kimonos printed with my own photos. Each kimono has its own identity, formed by print and shape. I want my art to be something more than just something to look at. For example I invite everyone to touch the kimonos, feel the paper, hoping to wake some thought or feeling. My photos are often abstract, with the intention to get the observer to stop, to take a second look, stay with the piece while awakening the mind.

Inspiration
Most of my inspiration comes from different shapes and textures in nature. I like to take an ordinary motif and transform it into something beautiful and intriguing, making it a reflection on how I experience the world.
I also find inspiration in other artist with the ability to make me connect with them and their art in the same soulful way I want to connect with others through my own work. For me it's all about creating a feeling, a thought, a pause from everything going on around us, to shift the focus inwards.
The idea for the paper kimonos came after my discovery of Lokta paper very much resemble fabric when applied with ink and wrinkled, at the same time as I was researching kimono patterns to sew a fabric kimono.
My vision for the kimonos is to take them from a piece of art on the wall to someone wearing a custom made kimono on an evening event.
I can already see he/she is walking softly and elegant through the room with a drink in his/her hand, wearing something so delicate and unique.
Photos printed on Lokta natural paper.
All kimonos are made of Lokta paper 30 g, printed with my own photos and sewn together on a sewing machine. The Miniatures are hand sewn.
Some prints are combined with solid color Lokta paper 18 g.
