My name is Mikaela. I live in southern Stockholm with my husband and our two rescue cats.
I started painting randomly at the end of 2023. I got the idea to paint a painting for my parents as a christmas gift. I bought some acrylic material at the nearest arts and crafts store, picked a small canvas and a picture of them from a previous christmas and sat down on the floor and started painting for hours. Since then I have not really stopped. I am fully self taught and never really painted before this impulse thought christmas 2023.

Inspiration
I find my inspiration in the day to day life. I find it in ordinary things like a beautiful cup, a nice color tulips or just a very nice bowl of pasta. I have always been a visual and creative person and spent a few years taking pictures of food, not just my plate but actually setting it up and adjusting lightings and composition. I had a dream of creating a recipe book, but realized the creative process was more fun than the actual cooking and baking. So now that I started painting I realized I could awake that interest again, but instead in painting. So most of my art is food and drinks. Ever since I was a kid I have always been drawn to pretty food and watching how chefs in cooking shows or food influencers display the food in creative and inviting ways. What painting brought was that extra freedom I craved. I am now the decider of lighting and composition in a way that did not have to follow reality, but instead I could be inspired by it and then use my own vision to make it my own. My art therefor usually end up somewhere between realism (you can see what it is supposed to be) and some imagination of my own.
I have no art education, but am self taught.
No upcoming exhibitions, only markets in Stockholm (Färgfabriken and The Other Side Market Winterviken).
