Art, for me, is not decoration but recognition.
Each work holds a presence that cannot be forced into language; it waits until it meets the person who already understands it.
I paint in layers of darkness and emergence, allowing forms to surface rather than constructing them. The process reveals rather than illustrates. At first glance the works appear minimal, yet they carry movement, tension and release light breaking through matter, silence interrupted by a line, depth unfolding slowly over time.
The viewer does not need explanation, only attention. Meaning arises through encounter.
I believe a painting finds its owner what resonates in it is not learned, but remembered.
My practice explores transformation, presence and perception: the shift from tension to movement, from obscurity to awareness. Each piece becomes complete not when finished, but when recognized.

Inspiration
I work without predefined motifs.
The paintings develop from inner perception and material response rather than from a visual reference.
Ioana Myrvoll received formal training in visual arts during high school, exhibiting in school galleries and local competitions. After a prolonged creative pause, she resumed her practice and is currently developing the ongoing series Emergence.
Currently working on the painting series Emergence, a growing body of large-scale abstract works.
The series is being prepared for public presentation and curated art platforms during the coming year.
Series Statement: Emergence
The series traces the emergence of inner awareness.
Across the series of three art pieces, darkness opens into light not as a landscape, but as a threshold. The compositions remain deliberately incomplete, allowing perception to continue the work beyond the canvas.
The paintings do not tell a story.
They invite recognition, out of which Emergence I is the first to uncover the traces.
My process is intuitive and developed through layered application and removal of paint. I work in successive stages, allowing forms to emerge rather than constructing a fixed composition. Surfaces are built, softened and partially erased until a balance between depth, movement and light appears.
Each painting begins without a predefined image. I start by establishing a field of tone and movement, then gradually work through layers of paint adding, softening and removing material. The direction of the painting becomes visible through the process itself. I continue until the surface holds a sense of balance and presence that no longer requires intervention.
