About
Hi! My name is Johanna Almén and I create digital art and illustrations using the iPad as my main tool. My art is sold in limited editions and is perfect for anyone looking for something unique yet affordable. On my Instagram, @jalmeillustrations, you can see many of my works and get a good sense of my style.
I aim for a clear, modern, yet personal style in my artwork. Most of the time, I create based on my own ideas and current inspiration, but I’m also happy to take commissions if there’s interest. My strengths are color, patterns, animals, and nature, but I also enjoy painting faces.

Inspiration
I find my inspiration in many places around me—other artists, the patterns and colors I notice daily, and the imagery or photographs that catch my eye. I’m also drawn to the textures in different materials, the changing seasons, and the play of light and darkness. These elements spark my creativity and help shape the themes and moods in my work.
Just like my art, my inspiration is a blend of the personal and the natural, constantly evolving as I explore new ideas and visual experiences.
I have completed the illustration course at Berghs School of Communication, where I developed my creative and conceptual skills, but beyond that, I have no formal artistic education.

Creating digital art using the iPad as my primary tool.
My creative process begins with inspiration, which leads to an idea that I quickly sketch out. From there, I refine the sketch until I’m satisfied with the composition. Next, I do the lining and start adding color. Throughout the process, I experiment by improving, adding, or removing elements as the artwork takes shape. Finally, I add texture to bring depth and life to the piece. It’s an ever-evolving, experimental journey that almost always results in something quite different from what I first imagined.
