About

My name is Mathias Szabo and I'm 35 years old and live in Borås Sweden.
I have painted for about two and a half years now. I like to paint because I get feelings out on canvas or paper. I mix alot of techniques like watercolor together with posca pens, acrylics with posca and stuff.
I suffer from severe mental illness but that doesn't stop me from creating, actually I think it helps me come up with weird idéas.
When it comes to art I'm very productive. I like trying new things. I want to keep growing as an artist for my own sake.
Thank you.

Inspiration

My inspiration is hard to pinpoint. I get inspired by lots and lots of artists out there but there's not really any specifik artist that has inspired me. Sometimes people have said things like "this looks like this artist" and things like that but I'm really new to the art world so I have had to google all the names to even understand what they mean.

I honestly don't like getting too inspired by others, I want to do my own thing (And I think that helps me find my own style).

I have no education. I'm completely selftaught. I just picked up a few things and tried to paint and suddenly I was hooked.

I have one upcoming exhibition upcoming 11 november in Gothenburg. It's a conferens about shedding light on the issues with the mental health care and I got invited. It is me and one other artist who's gonna have some art there.

My technique is abit messy. I first create a background and then I usually use knifes and brushes with lots of paint on and kinda create thick layers that I then adjust. I often let it dry abit and then go for more layers and fix details with fine brushes.
Sometimes I like to let it dry completely and then add posca pen coloring for some neo effect.

My process is mostly chaos. most paintings don't take more then a day max.
