About
I am Amanda Egnell, born and raised in Gothenburg, just a stone's throw from the sea, where I have drawn much of my inspiration. I create based on impulse and passion, trusting my instincts and the creative process. My art is colorful, powerful, and full of energy, with my paintings making bold statements on the walls they adorn.
I have exhibited my work both in Sweden and abroad. I have sold paintings to over 10 countries and run my own gallery, "Galleri Egnell," located at Olivedalsgatan 22 in Gothenburg.
Currently, I am working on two different series: From Above and Expedition Abstract.

Inspiration
My greatest source of inspiration is nature. I am inspired by the various textures and shapes found in nature, which are often reflected in my work. Every detail, from the texture of bark to the waves of the sea, gives me new perspectives and ideas. Travel also plays a significant role in my process. Discovering new places gives me a lot of inspiration. My family and I try to travel as much as possible, and each trip provides me with a wealth of new ideas and impressions that I can then incorporate into my art.
"Self-taught"
My art style can be described as a blend of realism and abstract, where I aim to capture the details of nature while playing with color and form to create something unique. I’m not afraid to experiment with different techniques and materials in the studio. I often use a combination of acrylic and oil in my paintings and enjoy experimenting with textures and layers.
I like to work with palette knives, my fingers, and brushes to create dynamic and vibrant surfaces. By using different techniques to apply paint, I can create depth and movement in my work, giving them a sense of life and energy. My goal is for the viewer to feel transported to another place and experience the beauty of nature.
In my art, I want to show the beauty of nature. I focus on both the large and small details, as well as the various textures found in nature, and I hope the viewer takes the time to truly see and appreciate our world. By blending realism and abstraction, I aim to depict nature. A recurring theme in my art is the bird's-eye view, inspired by Google Earth. I'm fascinated by how landscapes appear from above and try to capture that unique perspective in my paintings. Additionally, I am deeply inspired by gemstones and their colors, which I incorporate into my more abstract works.
