My name is Maria Swanberg, and I am a Swedish contemporary abstract artist creating expressive, textured paintings in acrylic and mixed media.
Working primarily on large-scale canvases, I build depth through multiple layers of acrylic paint and mixed media, creating surfaces that reveal new details over time. Colour plays a central role in my artistic process, with earthy tones, deep greens, blues, and natural neutrals frequently appearing throughout my collections.
For me, painting is about creating calm, movement, and atmosphere in equal measure. My goal is to produce timeless contemporary artworks that not only complement a space but also tell a story and evoke emotion.

Inspiration
My work is inspired by the atmosphere of places, nature, travel, and the emotions they evoke rather than their physical appearance. I aim to capture a feeling—a fleeting moment, a memory, or the essence of a landscape—through layered textures, harmonious colour palettes, and intuitive brushwork. Each painting invites the viewer to discover their own interpretation and emotional connection.
