About

Hi, my name is Marie Granström, a self-taught artist based in Örnsköldsvik. I mostly paint with acrylics and I have recently also started painting with oil. Since as long as I can remember I have always loved painting and now I would like to share my passion and love for art with all of you.

Inspiration

I paint what I find aesthetically pleasing. This can range from landscapes, animals, people and really anything that comes to me and brings me joy, and a sense of fullfillment. My hope is that if you look at any of my art that it will give you as much joy and energy as it has with me!

I am a self-taught artist, with no previous art education.

I have a few paintings I am working on at the moment.

The techniques I mostly use when painting involves blending, layering, scraping, washing and dot painting. I also use another style of work where I incorporate materials from nature such as leaves, branches, grass etc., to create a more interesting, fun and unique art.

My painting process is pretty simple and straightforward. I either beforehand decide what I want to paint or I let it come to me instinctively. If I have already decided on what to paint, I would start by doing a preliminary drawing of the artwork. After this is completed I use a process which I call 'back to front', meaning I would start by painting the background and then add each layer until I get to the front, where I then add the final touches. I find that doing this ensures that the painting get a depth and more realistic touch.
