About

Growing up surrounded by fabrics and yarns, my passion for textile crafts has been a lifelong companion. Both my grandmother and my mother worked as seamstresses, creating curtains, tablecloths, and cushion covers for Atelje Kristina, a 1980s company in that employed home-based seamstresses with overlock machines. My mother also knitted extensively, made Waldorf dolls, and taught knitting courses to teenagers at the local 4H farm.

Color, form, handicrafts and textiles in various forms have accompanied me throughout my life. I designed and sold children's clothing under the brand Smilfink during my maternity leave, embroidered, crocheted, and sewed baby blankets for new additions to my circle of friends. I also styled apartments, and since the pandemic, I always have at least one knitting project nearby. I love sinking into the sofa to knit a few rows as a form of relaxation.

In my professional life, creativity and curiosity led me towards the digital world and the internet. However, when I started my own business and began freelancing a few years ago, the dream of combining screen work with creative hands-on projects grew stronger. After trying tufting for the first time, I quickly became captivated by this enjoyable craft and bought my first tufting gun. After a period of late night kitchen tufting I , and by September 2023 the dream came true. Since then I tuft as much as I can but also teach others in my tufting studio, Tufterian.

Inspiration

From a young age, I was immersed in a world of textiles. It seems these skills developed naturally as I played with the scraps from my mother's sewing projects, which were my personal treasure trove. It all began with hand-sewn creations for my Barbie dolls and evolved into knitting ties, vests, and revamping second-hand clothes during my teenage years.

My family has been a constant source of inspiration. Watching my mother and grandmother transform simple materials into beautiful, functional items instilled in me a deep appreciation for the artistry of textile crafts.
