About

She is a self-taught artist who allows her emotions to shape the expressions found in her paintings. Currently, she dedicates 20% of her time to her art while balancing it alongside her primary role at Linnaeus University in Kalmar. Residing just outside the city with her family—including her husband, two children, and their dog—she lives in close proximity to the beautiful Kalmarsund and expansive meadows, where she often takes long walks to draw inspiration for her creative pursuits. Her surroundings profoundly influence her artistic journey, fueling her passion and devotion to creating work that resonates with the viewer on an emotional level.

Inspiration

I find inspiration in nature: the blush of a pink sky, the restless rhythm of a stormy sea, or the delicate shimmer of a bird’s plumage. Yet I am equally drawn to what is raw and imperfect—the mud of the fields, the heavy dimness of a clouded sky, the subdued tones that whisper more than they shout. It is the muted, moody colors that speak to me far more than the bright ones. There is a joy in pulling on my rubber boots and worn, muddy clothes, stepping outside with my dog, and surrendering to the landscape. I love to run through puddles, gaze upward at the sky, and listen to the birds their fragile songs. That truly speaks to me.

My work carries traces of melancholy and nostalgia. I hope it invites the viewer to pause, to feel a subtle stirring within. Not necessarily sadness—unless one chooses to see it that way—but perhaps a quiet comfort, a reminder that even in the imperfect and the somber, there is solace.

I paint using a variety of techniques and materials—delicate watercolors, large acrylic canvases where paint is splashed and sprayed with a garden hose, or soft, cloud-like skies built up through gentle, meditative layers of movement. Lately, motifs often find their way into my work—birds, boats—appearing as the mood of the day allows. And that is what I love most about art: the freedom to decide for myself, to let it become whatever it wants to be.

It is entirely the feeling that guides me when I am free and not painting on commission. I do not plan in advance; instead, I choose colors and motifs intuitively. Often, I paint the first layers quickly, driven by eagerness to capture the emotion on the canvas, before returning to build upon it with additional layers, deepening the work and allowing it to evolve.
