About
My name is Rakel Barsom and I have always loved painting. As a child, I spent hours in my room drawing and coloring, and art class was always the best part of school for me. I'm not usually someone who can do the same thing for a long time, but when I paint, everything around me disappears. I can paint for hours without even noticing the time passing. I love painting intuitively and never have a finished plan when I start. It feels like a kind of freedom to let the brush and colors lead the way. Painting is my meditation, a way to express what can't be said with words, and a chance to fully focus on the act of creating.

Inspiration
I work with acrylic on canvas, in layers, just like thoughts, memories, and movements are built over time.
My inspiration comes from inner and outer landscapes, encounters, childhood, motherhood, and the desire to leave something behind that can be felt.
I am a trained dentist, which many might not consider an artistic profession, but it truly involves a process of working layer by layer when shaping and building up a tooth. To me, it’s an art form in itself, where precision and aesthetics go hand in hand.
I am also a self-taught artist.
